Hot Springs, Arkansas Part 1

Arrived in Hot Springs on October 11.  Stayed at the Hot Springs National Park KOA.  Lots of trees and a very pretty park.

We enjoyed walking on Bathhouse Row, which is where the hot springs bathhouses were teeming with business around the 1800's.  You can still take of bath in the hot springs water at Buckstaff Bathhouse.  The National Park Service took over Fordyce Bathhouse and has converted it into a museum.  It's very interesting to see how luxurious the bathhouses were, catering to the wealthy, including New York and Chicago gangsters.  In the early 1900's some baseball teams held spring training in Hot Springs so their players could be rejuvenated in the healing hot springs.  Throughout the area there are fountains where you can fill your own jugs/bottles/containers with the hot springs water.  The water comes out at 143 degrees!
