Spending Time in the Baltimore Area

It rained most of the first week we were in the Baltimore area.  Fortunately the rain stopped and we were able to participate in the March of Dimes March for Babies on May 7. It was a cool sometimes drizzly morning but it was fun walking 4 miles around the Inner Harbor.  We walked with Stephen, Andrea, Holden, Laurie (Andrea's mother) and Alisha (Andrea's friend).

Right before Mother's Day the weather was again nice enough for us to venture outdoors.  We decided to ride our bikes at Centennial Park in Ellicott City, a Baltimore suburb.  It's a scenic park with many paved trails to walk or bike on.  There is also a lake for fishing and small boats are allowed on the lake.

Found a shady spot to rest and eat lunch

Unfortunately, all the rain put a lot of allergens in the air and while we were riding our bikes I had a bad reaction.  A couple of days later I wound up going to an urgent care clinic and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, then a few days after that I was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Just as I was starting to feel better John developed a kidney stone.  It took 2 weeks to get scheduled for a procedure to bust it up.  So that was the end of our bike riding because after that neither one of us felt like working up a sweat and after the rains stopped the heat came!  Fortunately we are again feeling well.

Stephen and Andrea hosted a crab dinner.  The steamed, seasoned crabs came in a large cardboard box and we dumped them out onto the table and started cracking.  They were delicious!

Also joining in the fun were Rob and Jen
In my next post we explore the Woodbine, MD area.
