Trenton, Maine

Saturday, October 7, we arrived at Timberland Acres RV Park in Trenton, Maine for a 1-week stay.  At least half the park  is occupied by seasonal residents.  The park closes for the winter on October 15 and when we arrived we saw many residents packing up and going south for the winter. Can't say I blame them.  Average temperatures in January are 31.5 degrees for the high and 13.6 degrees for the low with an average of 17" of snow.  Brrrr!

We are in a pull-thru site in the middle of the RV park.  It is unusual because it's the longest site we've ever been in--over 150 ft long!

Loooooong site!

Dark, thick forest borders the RV park--spooky!
On a quest for spectacular fall foliage--I think we're getting closer!

Trenton is a small town about 10 miles from Mt. Desert Island, home of the town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. In Trenton (as in Kennebunkport) some restaurants that serve fresh steamed lobster and lobster roll are called Lobster Pounds. In Trenton some of these restaurants also sell Texas barbeque.  We found one place that was delicious--just like back home!

Delicious Texas barbeque!

Good and moist brisket

Driving from Trenton to the park we passed some beautiful foliage.  Optimal fall color is supposed to be the 1st 2 weeks of October.  So far the leaves have not disappointed! Can't wait to see the trees in Acadia.

Next, we explore Acadia National Park...
